Board of Directors Monthly Minutes
Meeting called to order @ 7:45 by President Steve Worthley.
Review of minutes from August meeting. Motion made by Rich Zabroski to except minutes 2nd by Ken Patterson. Motion passes unanimously.
Special Guest Dennis Hartigan came to speak on the up coming Cronin Tournament. Mite,Squirt and PeeWee “A” teams will be enrolled to play at no cost to our players. Dennis is looking for volunteers to work on the weekend of the tournament. All proceeds benefit the Dana Faber Cancer Institute in Michael Cronin’s name.
President’s Report Steve wanted to express his thanks to Dwayne Oxley and all the coaches involved with the first skills and drill session run this past week. He is hearing nothing but positive feed back on how well it was run. Also wanted to thank Pat Groark for his hard work in getting the cross-ice program up and running. Also thanks to everyone who helped with founder’s day.
Vice Presidents Report CPR and Defib training will be Oct 8th at the public safety building. All head coaches should attend. Ron will be sending out e-mail asking for names space is limited. Cost will be under $10 covers CPR card and training materials. Also Ron needs CORI forms in ASAP.
Treasures Report Dwayne was unable to attend. Steve spoke on his behalf Sept payments are due and coming in slow both the Valley and Kasabuski will be looking for payments for games and practice ice.
Directors will be getting lists of players who are behind with payments and could be held off the ice till payments have been received.
Secretary Report Reminder to all coaches that they need to be certified by Dec 31st Check the Mass Hockey web-site for up coming classes. Asked Fred Moore how it was looking in finding one tournament the whole league could attend at once. Fred said he wasn’t having much luck finding a tournament the whole league could attend at once but will put a list together and let each coach choose his own tournament to attend. Steve made a motion to have list by the next BOD meeting 2nd by Joe Schrimpf motion passes unanimously.
Ethics Nothing at this time.
Squirt/peewee PeeWee “A” team is calling players up to fill 2 possible positions.
Web-Site Will be posting coaches contact on site as soon as info is collected.
Learn to Skate Discussion had and tabled till next meeting on when to hold learn to skate Friday night Vs Sunday night. Will we lose enrollment with Sunday night?
Mites Pat passed out a copy of the payment letter to everyone to remind him or her of payment schedule. The mite “A” team has been calling up players to look at with more to come. Cross-Ice has at this time 21 players signed up. Pat wanted to thank everyone who helped while he looked for permanent coaches. Coaches should be in place by next week. Mite “B” and “C” teams will be playing in the Valley.
Equipment Fred purchased enough new shirt bags for every team to have two. Needs to take inventory of goalie equipment and let board know if we need to purchase any this year.
Ice Coordinator We should have same hours for month of October will have schedule out as soon as hours are confirmed.
Fund Raising Not present
An issue was brought to the floor in regards to a jersey dispute in the Bantam level. The board decided that this was not an issue for the BOD to get involved in. The issue was directed to the Bantam director and team head coach. With the following direction it has always been in the past that a returning player has been able to choose his number before first year players. The board has faith in Dana and John that this issue can be taken care of with out board intervention.
Past Vice President Bob Cinelli stopped by to thank SYH for their support while Bob was our Vice President Bob wishes nothing but the best for all new and current members. Bob also presented SYH with a donation from Verizon for $750. Steve excepts the donations and thanks Bob and Verizon for their support to SYH.
