President -  Meeting is called to order at 7:41.  Bill Granara makes motion to accept minutes from February meeting.  Ron Ruszkowski seconds motion.  Motion carries unanimously. We would like to take a moment to thank everybody for all their help.  There is still more involvement that is needed at all levels of the organization.  Try-out schedule has been set for the end of the month and will be posted on the web site.  Spoke to the Saugus Advertiser about running an ad announcing registration.  Explanation is given about responsibilities and process of selection committees.  Volunteers are accepted to serve on selection committees.  Congratulations to P/W A team for qualifying for state tournament.  Congratulations to the P/W A and Mite A teams for winning the silver medals in their respective tournaments.  Members of the executive board will be present at try-outs and registration.

 

Vice President -  The coaches evaluation forms have all been passed out.  We have received evaluations back from one team so far.  We should be receiving a $500 donation from Verizon soon.

 

Treasurer -  All balances are out.  Finances are in pretty good shape.  We should be able to pay all the bills on time.

 

Secretary/ Mite Director -  Congratulations to the Mite A team for their silver medal in Waterville Valley.  We would like to nominate the Norton family for S.Y.H.  Person of the Year.  Bill Cross makes motion to name Norton family as S.Y.H. P.O.Y.,  Ron Ruszkowski seconds motion.  Motion carries unanimously.  All player evaluation forms have been given to the respective coaches.  Payment letters have been given out.

 

Ice Coordinator -  Schedule is set for the month of March.  N.S.H.L. playoffs are in April. Finals will be April14-15.  Learn to skate will end 3/24 for advanced players with sticks.

 

Registrar -  Midget roster is due by Oct. 1. Next year everybody is going to have to register online with USAHockey.com.  Applications will be sent out with player placement letters.  Registrar asks for $100 donation be made to Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in the name of Charlie Bradbury.  Bill Cross makes motion to make $100 donation,  Ron Ruzkowski seconds motion.  Motion is accepted unanimously.  Pink ribbons are available to honor survivor or a family member.  Congrats to the P/W A for qualifying for the states and their silver medals in Waterville Valley.

 

Equipment -  Bill has been paid in full to Everett Sporting Goods.

 

League Rep -  Questionnaire has been filled out for the Valley League.  Had a long conversation regarding the rink and the future of the N.S.H.L.  Peabody looks like they are out of the N.S.H.L.  Salem/ Swampscott is staying.  Melrose is adding teams.  Andover and Stoneham are considering coming in.  Consideration should be given to moving A-teams to extended V.L. schedule.

 

P/W- Squirt Director -  Just received payment letters.  Problem with S/S moving down in N.S.H.L., they are dominating at a lower level then moving back up and passing teams in the standings.  They have won a game in the Red division.  League has been notified of the situation.  Motion to pay $850 fee for the P/W A team to compete in the state tournament.  Stacy Tait seconds motion. Motion passes unanimously.

 

Ethics- Congratulations to the Mite A team for their silver medals in Waterville Valley.

 

Fundraising- The banquet has been set. Mites will be April 23. Squirts, P/W and Bantams are April 30 at Lavoies Ballard.

 

New Business- Bill Cross makes a motion on behalf of the E-board to refund tuition of Mae Norton, Ron Ruszkowski seconds motion. Motion carries unanimously. Steve Worthley makes proposal to hold another wrestling event at the high school. All revenue from ticket sales will be donated to S.Y.H.
