Mighty Mites - Learn to Skate Program
This program for children age 3 and up. It’s a great way for your son or daughter to learn the skill of skating in a fun environment while interacting with a group kids and coaches. There is no experience required at all. Novice skaters start on one end of the ice by pushing milk crates to gain their balance. The coaches work throughout the season trying to build each kids confidence in hopes they will be skating on there own when they feel ready. For kids with more experience and do not require crates, we continue to work on balance and skating skills while mixing in some fun & games.
- Price is $125.00 which includes 20-25 one hour practice sessions from October into March. All practice sessions are on Saturday. (Time to be determined)

- SYH has a great group of experienced coaches. We are always looking for new coaches who are interested in getting involved.
- We offer full refunds up to 5 weeks into the season for kids who need to drop out for what ever reason.
- Mighty Mite – Learn to Skate Equipment List:
Helmet with full cage - All helmets and masks must be HECC certified.
Elbow Pads/Knee Pads - Any elbow and knee pads can be used.
Gloves - Winter gloves with fingers are best. There is no need to buy hockey gloves this early and if they need to hold a crate hockey gloves don't work as well. Bring an extra pair of gloves just in case the first pair gets wet from falling on the ice.
Ice Skates - Skates should not be bought several sizes too large so a player may "grow into them." Oversize skates will hinder the skating development of the youngster. Skates should be slightly smaller (approximately one-half size) than the normal shoe size. They should fit snugly with just one pair of socks. Push the toes all the way to the front of the boot. At the heel area there should only be enough room for an adult index finger to fit between the heel and the back of the boot. When properly laced, players should not be able to lift their heels and their toes should be able to move. Rapidly growing youngsters may outgrow more than one pair of skates in a season. Look for good buys on used skates, but make sure they fit properly.
